"I don't want actors reasoning with me about 'motivation'
and all that bull. All I want 'em to do is learn the goddamn
lines and don't bump into each other."
Jason Robards, Jr.
AUDITIONS and INTERVIEWS
The Heritage Theatre Company was formed during the summer of 2003 and is a professional, year 'round resident theatre company.
There are 2 components of the company:
THE HERITAGE THEATRE COMPANY is devoted exclusively to original dramas of major
historical significance. We will continue to lead the entire East Coast in this unique specialization.
THE HERITAGE-O'NEILL THEATRE COMPANY permits concentration in the masterful works of Eugene O'Neill: heralded by literary and theatrical
scholars as the Father of American Drama.
Every season with the latter, we will present a minimum of 2 plays by Eugene O'Neill, as well
as an American classic, and one World Premiere / original adaptation of the finest non-fiction books, novels, films, and
television dramas of major importance and relevance.
Auditions and interviews are held by invitation only.
While we build a very select core company, we cast our Company Members,
Company Member candidates, and Jobbers (in addition to the occasional Journeyman and small non-professional roles). Resident Company Members (actors
who have been with the company for a minimum of one complete season) are cast first and are first in line for lead roles,
followed by Company Member Candidates. Jobbers will be cast from outside the company for lead and secondary roles only
if we are unable to fill from within our company.
We accept photographs and resumes from professional stage
actors, and will consider the actor for an audition and interview based on their training and professional
experience, and our needs.
The following will help the actor understand our needs:
1. We seek professional stage actors with broad and
extensive stage experience and who have made their stage career commitment to performing professional theatre.
2. We cast professional stage actors who reside
within a commutable 50 mile radius of our theatres (those in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore areas), as there are no
provisions for transportation or housing at this time.
3. Actors are requested not to telephone, e-mail, or
visit our office or performance venues on matters pertaining to submissions or casting.
4. Due to security precautions
and computer viruses, we are unable to open e-mails from those addresses unknown to us, or e-mail attachments of photographs
and/or resumes. Please use the regular mails and send your materials in care of the address noted below for casting
submissions.
5. We want extremely positive, reliable,
talented, multi-skilled and easy-going people who are true "team
players," and who are extraordinarily passionate about theatre. We value actors who are intelligent, smart, and
sharp; who use their heads and think on their feet, who are willing and able to go the extra mile, and who can command and
own the stage.

A Note on Invitations / Performance Attendance Requests:
One of the best ways for us to become familiar with your work is to see
you in actual performance. If you are in a production which you are exceptionally proud of, and which demonstrates your
best work, you may request our attendance at this production, which should include the offer of 2 free tickets at the performance
of our choice and schedule availability. We would be most happy to accommodate your request if our schedule permits.
Thank you. We appreciate
your interest.
